    Brief CV:

Javier Borge (Oviedo, Spain, 1969) holds a PhD in Chemistry and is Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Oviedo.

Most of his research was developed in the group supervised by Prof. S. García Granda (University of Oviedo) and was focused on the structural determination of medium sized organometallic compounds using single crystal X-ray diffraction.

He also worked, sporadically, in computer programming, writing specific software for protein structure determination, by means of single crystal X-ray diffraction (in collaboration with Prof. P. T. Beurskens, head of the Laboratorium voor Kristallographie at the Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen, The Netherlands), and also for larger macromolecular aggregates, combining crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (in collaboration with Prof. J. Navaza, head of the Laboratoire de Virologie Moléculaire et Structurale at the CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette, France).

He is currently engaged, on the one hand, in studying the phase problem in X-ray crystallography, looking for solutions that requiere no prior knowledge of the crystallized compound, and on the other, in writing useful mathematical algorithms (closely related to UV-VIS spectroscopy and chemical kinetics) to interpret some of the experimental results obtained by the Organometallic Compound and Catalysis (COMORCA) group led by Dr. V. Cadierno.
